That’s great, Yellow wag and Greylags are new ticks for the site.

Visited Cress Marsh on my way home from work yesterday evening. As mentioned in previous posts, some of the scrapes are dry, but the scrapes towards the back of the site and the main lagoon are holding water.
During my visit (approx 1 hr), 18 species of bird were recorded.
Highlights were:
Little Ringed Plover (2)
Ringed Plover
Shelduck (10)
Lapwing (5)
Skylark
Meadow Pipit
Herring Gull - a flock of 20+ birds on the main lagoon
Also a few butterflies about, with 20+ Painted Lady and a Ringlet, plus a Fox and Roe Deer seen whilst walking along the path to the hide.
It will be interesting to see how this site develops with time as I think it has the potential to attract some interesting species!

Hello Jon.... essentially you ignore the signs!
At the meeting in March the Ecology Officer said he was happy for people from local birding groups to access the site to help monitor what was happening..
The barrier at the entrance is locked so you can’t park in the car park. Park in front of the barrier and use the gate at the left hand side of it ... or duck under the barrier. Follow the path to the hide...the gates along the gritted path are not locked .
Hope that helps.
Regards Joy
