Wheatear is a lovely find!
I was there an hour later and was accompanied up to hide by 2 Yellow Wags. I saw a pair of Sparrowhawk over the far bank of the lagoon.
2 LRP and 1 RP flew in just as I was about to leave.

Nice hour from 4pm till 5pm
No spoonbills tonight but an influx of female mallards and more guls than I have seen before at one time, probably around 150+
Loan avocet and greenshank with about 6 sandpipers.
Only a couple of herons and 4 Little egrets
Sparrowhawk appeared a couple of times
Roe deer Doe and fawn came from factory area near temporary fencing and down bank to lagoon edge, stayed for about 15 minutes grazing around waters edge.
Usual linnets on walk to and from hide approx. flock of 20.
Highlight was walking back to car and accompanied by a wheatear along right hand areas bank, keeping about 10 feet in front of me for the full walk.

Visited Birdfair today. Going was "soft" to say the least, but car park wasn't too bad. Like you, I have yet to catch a Spoonbill at Cress Marsh!

I keep missing the spoonbill!!
I was at the Birdfair on Friday too! Glad I went pre downpour. Saturday/Sunday I reckon would be quagmire conditions especially trying to get in and out of the car park field.
