Had a couple of hours on the site this afternoon: no sign of Spoonbill.
Best birds today were:
Green Sandpiper 2
Common Sandpiper 5
LRP juv 2
RP juv1
Peregrine
Grey Heron 5
And a new site tick....Whimbrel

A bit of work has been done.... row of electricity pylons have been uprighted and bird deflectors added to overhead wires. In the process quite a bit of vegetation had been flattened and path gouged up...

Hi Joy,

Myself and Steve Routledge "flushed" a pair of juvenile Spoonbill this morning whilst conducting the WeBS count at East Halton Skitter. We assumed that they had flown to Killingholme Haven as they headed in that direction, but clearly kept going and found Cress Marsh. A cracking site "tick" for you!

Regards

Jon

Spent approximately 1 1/2 hours at the site this afternoon on my way home from work. Water levels were low, with the majority of the scrapes dry, but plenty of exposed mud around and in the main lagoon. Twenty species of bird and four species of butterfly were recorded during my visit:

Black-headed Gull
Buzzard a single bird soaring over the site.
Carrion Crow
Chaffinch
Common Sandpiper three birds seen feeding around the edge of the main lagoon.
Grey Heron 6 - largest number I have seen so far on site.
Greylag Goose 10
Herring Gull
Kestrel two birds seen hunting over the back of the site. May be the same birds that nest at may place of work, which is not too far away.
Lesser Black Back Gull
Linnet
Little Egret 3
Pheasant
Pied Wagtail 1
Reed Bunting
Ringed Plover single bird seen on one of the islands in the main lagoon.
Shelduck 3 two adults and one juvenile bird
Stock Dove single bird which dropped in and took a drink from the edge of the main lagoon.
Woodpigeon
Yellowhammer

Butterflies:

Meadow Brown
Painted Lady 20+
Small White
Large White
Peacock 20+
