A 10KG bag of Sunflower Hearts is less than £30 at Home Bargains, our Goldfinches cannot get enough of it

I had the same problem and had to replace our feeders with metal ones. Just bought a big bag of sunflower hearts for £45.00; the first bag was £29.00 two years ago and last years was £35.00. Siskins and Bramblings are on our wish list, it would. be worth the money if they turned up!

Slight increase yesterday with Chaffinch now 5 and Goldfinch now 9. Must get more seed feeders due to the damn squirrel wrecking most of my other seed ones months ago, most are held together with tape and most of the ports are taped over due to it biting them to get at seeds.

Good news! After getting up at 14:00 and getting breakfast on spotted action in back garden feeder, the Greenfinch have returned five of them!
No sign of Dunnock and Robin of late.

Blue Tit - 6 getting sfh and young shoots on my trees
Great Tit - 2 getting sfh
Coal Tit having sfh
House Sparrow - 24 having sfh, fat balls and peanuts
Chaffinch nice to see it return
Goldfinch - 5 on niger and sfh.
Magpie - 2 both preening in hawthorn
Blackbird - 3 having cherries
Wood Pigeon - 2 having hawthorn berries
Feral Pigeons - 2
Common Gull

Certainly enjoyed those returning after long break away. Hope this gives Ray and others hope that the birds are slowly returning.
Also noticed the goat willow or pussy willow is in bud much earlier than usual.

From Nov 10th to today (13th) had Coal, Great and Blue Tit each day, only one of each though. Nov 10th had a single Magpie and the hoard of Spuggies, I enjoy watching them travel through the privet hedge towards the gate then they all fly to feeders (SFH, nuts and fat balls) and the slightest movement they scarper to the hedge lol , other than the three tits they have the front garden to themselves, oddly they rarely go to back garden where more feeders are. I think because the front is long and narrow with loads of cover they think it's the safer option, whereas the back is much larger but even so has loads of trees and shrubs. I'd love to be a spuggy for a day to see if they have a leader/s. Have sometimes wondered when watching football matches how everyone in the crowd (home or away) seems to sing the songs at same time, maybe that's how spuggy's work?? Today had a single Common Gull over, usually get two dozen, had wood pigeon getting hawthorn berries today.
