Another manic day on feeders! Was awake and up before the birds today!  Started watching from 09:00 to 13:00 bit misty though.

Hoped the male Blackcap returned and it did :) tonight had a delivery of apples for it, so hoping it stays much longer. At last seen a Dunnock in front hedge.

Sightings:  Male Blackcap at 09:25 on cherry tree.
Goldfinch - 13
Wood Pigeon - 2
Greenfinch - 7
Feral Pigeon on roof - 38 luckily only five in garden.
Blue Tit - 4
Great Tit - 2
House Sparrow - c24
Blackbird - 6
Crow - 2
Jackdaw - 2
Chaffinch - 6
Starling - 2
Magpie - 2
Dunnock
Coal Tit
Robin
Common Gull.

Well pleased. Always double check the Blackbird in case it's a Fieldfare lol.

Roll on tomorrow, who knows what may pop in.

John :)

This report should give the likes of Ray and the others who live nearby some hope.  I was up early again so from 11:00 to 15:00 was divided between the lounge and kitchen both are best places to view back garden, next to no action in front garden, no idea where the three dozen Sparrows were as all feeders full.

Highlight of day was the first mentioned:

Male Blackcap spotted four times in three hours each time was in hawthorn trees, got pics.
Goldfinch - 9
H Sparrow - 2
Great Tit - 3
Blue Tit - 8
Coal Tit - 2
Blackbird - 8 the hawthorn and cherry taking a thrashing.
Wood Pigeon - 2
Chaffinch - 6
Crow - 4 over
Robin
Greenfinch - 3
Sparrowhawk
Starling - 2
Feral Pigeon - 4
Common Gull over
Cormorant over - New Tick
Collared Dove
Magpie - 2
Jackdaw - 18 over

Best day's garden birding this year for species.  Hoping Blackcap returns. New feeder proved popular within minutes of hanging it up.

John :)

A couple of years ago we had one that was sat in a bush at MSQ, Scared the pants off us when it flew off. Laughton Forest is one of the best places close by for seeing them.

Aye, this was only the second Woodcock I'd ever seen and not seen one since anywhere! The first was at MSQ also in a strange place, it was sat on what was left of the floor of the Grebe hide floating very close to the grass bank, two guys from Lincoln came along and took a photo for me and later sent it for me as I remember.

Here is the most surprising bird ever to visit garden back in March 2010. It landed under the hypericum and was there thirty minutes till postman came and scared it off. At time took lots of pics and videos. Fingers crossed it uploads.
