Well done with the Osprey, can you send it over to us. The pale Buzzard sounds like our old friend from across the fields.Got my hearing aids fitted this week and walking at MSQ sounded like Phil Spectors Wall of Sound !!!

The Osprey isn't, have had one twice before , can't remember the dates but they are on old forum.
After much deliberation consulting Collins and other guide books all afternoon I think the four Marsh Harriers were most likely pale variant Buzzards, they were talon grappling like they do and last year often saw one of this type at Burringham (FL) which is about three miles away. Daresay the birding fraternity will think am a plonker lol but am man enough to admit my mistake. Have never had Marsh Harriers over yet.
This is first time have had pale variant Buzzards over so this is a double first. Had plenty of ordinary Buzzards over over time.

Two good birds for the garden list. Are they new additions?

At 11:15 had an Osprey and four Pale Variant Buzzards over , watched them ten minutes!
Had intended going birding but pleased I stayed at home.

This morning spotted a Goldfinch on one of the Hawthorn trees , it was doing something have never seen before, it was opening the berries and taking seed out, none of the other Goldfinch were. Looked in guide and they don't normally do it, I don't suppose it's to far removed from their habit of removing teasel seeds etc.
Has anyone else seen this before?

Yesterday the back garden returned to more like it's usual activity with a decent selection of birds:
Greenfinch - 2
Magpie - 1
Starling - 10
Feral Pigeon - 2
Blue Tit
Great Tit
Spuggies in front garden
Goldfinch - 15
Wood Pigeon - 2
Months since any Blackbirds seen, the Scandinavian lot will be here next month ...
Will fill more feeders today and hopefully get more species.
