What a gracious and generous offer!

Keep battling the CD, John. Hope you're on the mend soon.

I did once have some birders visit when I had a run of mealy redpolls visiting, I think they came from Essex but were on a tour of Lincs hotspots and made a detour
It was a photo of 185 redpoll that you mentioned. I had to take a photo and then dot the birds as I counted them
I tried to put the photo on here last night but as yet haven't worked out how to do that

Wow that is a fantastic total and if I remember correctly from past photos you don't have a big garden especially the front one (my front one is also small but the Siskin have as far as I know never been in it) , I remember very well one photo you showed us of 100+ Redpoll in your front garden on and beneath a small tree, it's a wonder you didn't have birders visiting!

My food is exactly same as yours I expect, in the past Siskins that have visited this garden have been few and far between, last ones must have been ten plus years ago, I must find out. Think the last ones that came brought two Redpoll that stayed a few weeks.

I think you have the midas touch when it comes to Redpolls and also Siskins with those numbers!

I also spend a fair old bit on bird food but what else is there to spend my money on that gives me immense pleasure and makes every day worth living! I keep saying to myself if one Siskin came every day that would suffice but seeing the small amounts I do is far more than some fellow birders are seeing.

Cheers
Max

Well Max since I started recording birds in my garden eleven years ago I have recorded 2445 siskin over 461 days. Numbers so far this winter have been down (perhaps they like the food better in Scunthorpe with 131 siskin over 43 bird days since January 1st
The numbers are better for lesser redpoll with 279 birds over 54 bird days since New Years Day Total of the redpolls in the last eleven years are 12829 over 901 days
It cost me a fortune in nyger seed and sun-flower hearts and if we are lucky they may linger three or four more weeks yet

March 7th: Siskin - 16 ( 9 male & 7 female).
March 8th: Siskin - 11 ( 6 male & 5 female).
March 9th: Siskin - 16 ( 9 male & 7 female) today they have been coming every day for 28 days, I find it hard to believe have been so lucky! Today I only kept eye out in afternoon but when I was in garden two hours they kept out of sight.
Today got another seed feeder a six porter. Am running out of places to hang them, only put them on trees.

Cheers
John
