I may just put myself forward to be a candidate for the committee, maybe some north of the county old blood is what's needed.

Right to carry on with Stuart's post: have been number crunching and checked the sightings for the last four months - March 26th to July 30th and it makes interesting reading, I have done as if it's a listing of Top of the Pops but in our case Top of the Sites; As am not a top flight Swift counter I may be the odd number out.

1 - Cress Marsh = 19
2 - My Garden = 18
3 - MSQ = 15
3 - Cleethorpes = 15
5 - Tetney - 13
6 - Grainthorpe/Covenham = 11
7 - North Somercotes = 9
8 - Black Bank = 8
9 - Manby = 7
9 - Rimac = 7
9 - Undisclosed = 7
12 - Donna Nook = 4
13 - Saltfleetby = 3
13 - Nebraska Wetlands = 3
15 - Louth = 2
15 - Market Rasen = 2
15 - East Butterwick = 2
15 - Farmers Lane = 2
19 - Skidbrooke, Walesby, Sea Vie
w, Woodhall Spa, Stamford, Tuetoes, Carr Dyke and Tripplinghows all with one.

I think the main reason Stuart (and others) don't see any (or very few) sightings from south of Market Rasen as he puts it, is because in my opinion the large majority of birders in the south of LIncs are the younger generation and they much prefer using their smartphones to enter on Bird Track etc job done, I could be wrong.

When Twitter was working and I checked almost each time I came on our forum there was some birders putting sightings on who regularly posted on the old forum, I could name them but won't but they belong to the younger generation or look like it.

Of the dozen regulars who use forum I would guess rightly or wrongly that few are of the younger generation (under 40) but again I may be wrong.

Nothing will change to our forum as people like me are stuck in their ways and have no reason to change.

Personally I have no wish to see what is being seen in the south of our county be it rare or not. I am more than happy seeing what appears in the north of our county, unless I venture a bit further on hols.

Regards

John aka Max

Those characteristics would make you an ideal candidate. Otherwise the committee  risks falling into the trap of groupthink. Fresh ideas are always welcome. If it means treading on a few toes (including mine), so be it.

It goes against the grain to plug a competitor website, but a fair few reports from the south of the county turn up at:

Don't want nowt to do with them after their antics with me last year!

I always enter all of my sightings on BirdTrack - the data goes directly to the County Recorder, the BTO and also provides me with an archive for my records.
I also share my Cress Marsh sightings via the forum as surely this is what the LBC is all about - sharing info with fellow members. I used to also post on Twitter, but since a certain Mr Musk acquired it, the platform, in my opinion,  has become "less than good"!
