Sparrowhawk

Not many bird species but my main reason for going out was for butterflies, anything more was a bonus. MSQ seems to have changed from my view in the car park, I will return again, only saw three cars.

Another brilliant day.

18;00 Started at Carr Dyke (north) but sadly it was littered with glass bottles some of which were broken, so left and went to Carr Dyke (south) which was far more productive: 18:30 reason for delay I had to pump tyres up with compressor, I'd just been to pump them at garage and obviously let air out instead of in, idiot!
Pied Wagtail - 8
Mixed bunch of c20 House Martin/Swallow (don't like stopping next to farm house).
Buzzard
Linnet - 10

Yellowhammer - 2

Kestrel - 4 in air together  down Sands Lane late on.
Barn Owl - 2 both seen at entrance to their respective boxes just before I left, would have waited till dark to see them hunting but I feed the hedgehogs at 21:45, can't let them down!

Very enjoyable evening.

This going birding etc late afternoon/early evening is paying dividends. Today arrived at Black Bank at 16:10 and stayed till 20:10 did 95% of it and finished at Sands Lane (which is still part of Black Bank) as usual. My day was slightly marred by an idiot who had fly-tipped since last visit, next to me butterfly spot, took some pics, rubbish was blue paper recycling boxes and large flower pots!!!!!!!!!

Sunny & Hot with slight breeze:

Family of Yellow Wagtails 2 adult & 3 juvs (this made my day) got distant pics , pity I hadn't camera set up when they were in dyke.

Greenfinch
House Martin - c40

Made it at last after a enforced break of nine months, lovely to get out in the fresh air, certainly fresh today with a strong wind blowing but sunny as well. Didn't want to venture to far on my first trips out, this time went to Black Bank (eastern end) and finished at Sand Lane as usual. Arrived 16:00 and left 18:00 had a decent total but main things I wanted to see was butterflies and wasn't disappointed also a Broad Bodied Chaser (both recorded in their sections).

Mallard - 2
Green Woodpecker
Magpie
Crow - 9
Wood Pigeon - 18
Buzzard
House Martin - 3
Common Gull
Black-headed Gull
Reed Bunting
Chaffinch
Blackbird - 3
Swift - 4
Swallow - 2

Well chuffed!
