Bramblings been here every day since I first reported it, that's now eleven days, well chuffed! All other birds still here. Today had male Sprawk land in conifer and scattered everything. Saw a Long-tailed Tit in both gardens, probably doing a recce.

Short reports till I find out what the time limit is for writing.

Good to be back!

Last day of January was bitterly cold so put lots of seed on the back/front garden not really expecting anything different but knew the numbers would increase, blimey got two shocks while watching from kitchen! It was just after midday when I noticed far more Chaffinches than usual, normally get half a dozen but today best part of two dozen and two of them looked a bit different, they were at far end for a start where the longer grass is, thankfully they came to the seed nearer house and wow it was two female Brambling (got some pics) they stayed till dusk with the rest of their chums, that made my year! Last Brambling to visit was a pair about five plus years ago.

Then spotted something different among the three dozen House Sparrows, blimey it was two Tree Sparrows wowee, they were having a pop at the Starlings on the nut feeders and of course losing but they stayed best part of thirty mins and did manage a couple of pics just for the record. Must be twenty year since I got one. I kept pinching myself because I couldn't believe I'd had these two species, Brilliant start to the year.

Also seen was two Great Tit, two Blue Tit, five Blackbird, two Wood Pigeon, two Collared Dove, five Greenfinch, two Goldfinch, four Starling, two Dunnock and five Feral Pigeon.

Regards

John
