Here we go again.
Max if you want the job, you can take over right now. Not a problem and I will give it up willing. It takes up hours of my time and regularly it takes a few days before it appears on the website. Coupled with the database I provide monthly to the County Recorder of sightings off this section I find the task both onerous and burdensome. I have already informed the Recorder that I will cease providing him with the database after Christmas. Obviously that means you will have to send your sightings in directly (as many members do) if you want to have a chance of your news making the Bird Report.
Most people do not tend to look at the forum section of Bird Club as there are much easier ways of keeping up with rare bird news virtually instantly as most well know and accept. I have said in the past that I don't see the point of repeating posts from the forum section in the latest news as it is a waste of time repeating what is already on the website but have relented somewhat. I might look weekly and update accordingly
As a matter of fact I had just sat down to update the website and got a few sightings off the internet for yesterday when I went to the forum where the first thing I noted was a post by Jim Wright from Buck's Beck. I had even edited his photograph of a goldeneye to use bit later. Then there was a post by Stuart from Linnwood Warren. Next one was by Alan Hudson from Nebraska Wetlands. Then further down the page was a diatribe from Mr Concerned from somewhere in North Lincs. At present I still haven't viewed the post about the CE as I work my way down the page methodically so not as to miss anything that may be of interest - and even then I have been known to miss goodies. An email can correct that
The Cattle Egret would have made it, but not now. I will not miss goodies in the future as I shall now inform the committee that I am giving up both my voluntary roles. The praise the Latest News Sightings section has received is far outweighed by petty minded comments from self interested individuals.
I have had enough.
Obviously there is only a select band of us oldies that keep the forum going and I will till my time is up.
Lastly am not grovelling that's not my , I say it how it is and am well known for being blunt which comes from twenty years of being abused from age five to twenty-five.
Best wishes John

I hope you don't give up your posts on 'Latest bird news' Chris. I for one always read it and enjoyed the good quality photos that appeared on there. But if that is the end, many thanks from me, it was all much appreciated.
Regards Mr. Concerned from somewhere in East Lincs
Pete,
Max has certainly put the cat among the pigeons again and am sorry this happened, I have just replied to Phil and doing the courtesy of doing it to you and others. Whatever i say I mean from the bottom of my heart am not grovelling but just trying to build bridges for Max's rant.
I also agree and have said in the past that the photos that appear on the Latest News page are brilliant and its' a shame we can't say so like in the album of the old forum. But we have move on with the times.
Cheers John

Max
I know you will be winding people up from your grave so hopefully you can recognise it coming from the other direction. You can’t really expect us to mention somewhere called Nebraska in Latest Lincs Bird Sightings. If you check carefully you won’t find any from New York either.
Sadly after years of hard work Chris won’t be providing this service, even for sites in Lincs in future and unless someone else comes forward to do it with the same diligence that Chris has, the Latest News will be heavily curtailed.
The Bird Club relies for volunteers for everything it does. We need less grandstanding and more people willing to roll their sleeves up and muck in.
Thank you Chris for all the hard work you’ve done and an accurate birders perspective on where most people get their information these days.
Hi Phil,
I'm sorry for the trouble that Max has caused and I mean that. In regards to not putting sightings on Chris's page called Nebraska I have never called it that but have called it by its full title Nebraska Wetlands which is situated in Kirton-on-Lindsey which certainly is in Lincs, have just started either putting Kirton Lindsey or Nebraska Wetlands - Kirton Lindsey so that no one is in any doubt as to where it is, Chris did mention the Pintail I had there but not the Cattle Egret etc which angered Max. Where the wetlands are is on the land of Nebraska Farm and I know the owner who is a very keen birdwatcher
My alter ego Max tends to write before he thinks whereas I (John) does the opposite which comes from my days of creative writing.
If I remember correctly there is a New York in Lincs so if anyone had sightings from surely that would be allowed to appear on the Latest News page.
I'm going to answer each person's reply to Max's original rant.
Cheers
John
