Time on site: 13:00-15:00

Good numbers of ducks on site this afternoon and my first record of an Egyptian Goose at Cress Marsh:

Black-headed Gull    1
Carrion Crow    2
Cormorant    1
Egyptian Goose    1 - on one of the islands in the lagoon, before leaving site and flying off in the direction of Immingham / Killingholme.
Gadwall    44 - all on the lagoon
Goldeneye    1 - on the lagoon
Great Black-backed Gull    9 - on the lagoon
Greylag Goose    87 - feeding on the "Field" scrapes
Herring Gull    12 - on the lagoon
Lapwing    c50 - flew in and landed on one of the islands in the lagoon
Little Egret    2
Little Grebe    3 - on the lagoon
Mallard    11 - birds recorded on both the "Field" scrapes and lagoon
Mute Swan    10 - all on the lagoon
Pochard    3 - on the lagoon
Reed Bunting    3 - perched in Hawthorn bush adjacent to the path to the hide
Shoveler    8 - on the lagoon
Stock Dove    1
Teal    100 - on the lagoon
Tufted Duck    22 - all on the lagoon
Wigeon    85 - all on the lagoon
Woodpigeon    18
Wren    1
Roe Deer    5 - feeding on the "Pylon" scrapes area.

Time on site: 12:15-13:15

A few waders and an increase in the number of duck onsite, including my highest Gadwall count at Cress Marsh to date:

Black-headed Gull    6 - all on the lagoon
Gadwall    60 - all on the lagoon
Goldeneye    1 - male, on the lagoon.
Great Black-backed Gull    40 - all on two of the islands in the lagoon.
Green Sandpiper    1 - feeding on the "Pylon" scrapes area, around the scrape nearest the car parking area.
Herring Gull    39 - all on two of the islands in the lagoon.
Little Grebe    1 - on the lagoon
Magpie    2
Mallard    10 - various scrapes around site
Mute Swan    13 - all on the lagoon.
Pheasant    2
Pied Wagtail    2
Redshank    9 - feeding around various scrapes on site.
Reed Bunting    2 - in Hawthorn bush adjacent to the path to the hide.
Shoveler    5 - all on the lagoon
Teal    17 -  all on the "Field" scrapes area of site.
Tufted Duck    8 - all on the lagoon
Wigeon    9 - all on the "Field" scrapes area of site.
Roe Deer    2 - both on the "Field" scrapes area of site.

Time on site: 10:50-12:30

Nice to see a few species of wader during my visit to Cress Marsh today. Sightings as follows:

Blackbird    8 - all feeding on berries in the hedge row along the site boundary next to the railway line.
Buzzard    1 - dropped onto the Field scrapes area and stole a dead Wood Pigeon that a Carrion Crow was eating.
Carrion Crow    5 - one of the Crows was observed killing, plucking and eating a Wood Pigeon (injured / sick?). A Buzzard then stole the Crow's prey!
Dunlin    1 - feeding on the shore of one of the islands in the lagoon
Gadwall    47 - all on the lagoon
Great Black-backed Gull    19 - all on the lagoon
Green Sandpiper    1 - feeding on scrapes next to the main path to the hide, at the end nearest the car park.
Greylag Goose    120 - all on lagoon
Herring Gull    20 - all on lagoon
Lapwing    34 - all on an island in the lagoon.
Little Egret    1 - flew onto the Field scrapes
Little Grebe    2 - both on the lagoon.
Magpie    2
Mallard    18 - all on the lagoon
Mute Swan    14 - birds on both the Field scrapes and the lagoon
Pied Wagtail    1
Redshank    7 - two birds feeding on the Pylon scrapes and five birds feeding on the shore of the lagoon.
Shoveler    1 - on the lagoon
Starling    54 - perched on power lines at the edge of the site
Teal    32 - all on the Field scrapes
Tufted Duck    13 - all on the lagoon
Wigeon    3 - on the Pylon scrapes
Wren    1 
Roe Deer    4  - in front of the hide.

My first visit to a cold and blustery Cress Marsh in almost a month, found the following present:

Black-headed Gull    4  - on lagoon
Buzzard    1 - flew low across the site.
Carrion Crow    2
Gadwall    11 - all on the lagoon
Great Black-backed Gull    6 - all on the lagoon
Greylag Goose    44 - all on the lagoon
Herring Gull    6 - all on the lagoon
Kestrel    1 - hunting over the "pylon" scrapes
Little Grebe    4 - all on the lagoon
Magpie    2
Mallard    3 - all on the lagoon
Merlin    1 - hunting over the "field" scrapes area, along the scrape adjacent to the long boundary hedge adjacent to the railway line.
Mute Swan    10 - all on the lagoon
Pied Wagtail    2
Reed Bunting    2 - seen along the path to the hide
Shoveler    2 - both on the lagoon
Starling    21 - flock feeding on one of the islands in the lagoon
Teal    3 - on the lagoon
Tufted Duck    1 - on the lagoon
Wigeon    1 - solitary bird on the "pylon" scrapes.
Woodpigeon    
Grey Squirrel    1 - feeding in the long boundary hedge adjacent to the railway line 
Roe Deer    4 - feeding on the "field" scrape area.

Weather: Sunny, cool, strong S wind
Time on site: 12:30-13:40

Fairly quiet at Cress Marsh today, with most birds being seen on or around the lagoon. 

Black-headed Gull    16 - all on the lagoon
Black-tailed Godwit    3 - feeding along the far bank of the lagoon
Carrion Crow    4
Gadwall    5 - all on the lagoon
Great Black-backed Gull    19 - all on the lagoon islands
Herring Gull    40 - all on the lagoon islands
Kestrel    1 - hunting over the "pylon scrapes"
Linnet    20 - flock seen over the "pylon scrapes"
Little Grebe    9 - all on the lagoon
Magpie    2
Mute Swan    15 - majority of the birds were on the lagoon, with 4 noted on the "hide scrapes"
Pochard    1 - on the lagoon
Teal    45 - majority of the birds were on the "field scrapes", with some also seen on the lagoon.
Wigeon    5 - all on the lagoon
