Hi Jon,
By my reckoning the site total is approx 98 species.
Cuckoo is new but I had seen a Marshie there April 2019.

Here's the latest press release from North East Lincolnshire Council.
I'm not sure the triumphant tone is entirely appropriate, but I like the photo.

Hi Joy,
Just wondered how many species of bird we have now recorded at Cress Marsh? Nick's Cuckoo & Bill' s Marsh Harrier, I guess are new additions?

It was ok Monday afternoon too although I remember it was a little tricky to engage the handle as I was leaving but nothing to make me investigate further.

Hi Nick
I can confirm that the lock on the hide door was ok when I visited on Sunday afternoon.

An hour today.
Ringed plover running around lagoon edge
Coot with 2 little punk headed chicks
Oyster catcher with 1 chick
BHGs on centre island, very young chick too
3 herons, 1 a juvenile
Avocets on islands but no chicks
Wagtails 2
Shelduck 2
Too and from hide
Whitethroats 2
Wren 1
Yellowhammer (nest in bush halfway down long path)
Reed buntings 4
Sparrowhawk
Upon entering hide, noticed door was kept closed by a bungee strap affair. Handles in situ and working, but no inner gubbins! Entire catch/locking mechanism has been removed. Therefore, someone has removed handles and spindle first to remove mechanism, and then reaffixed handles and spindle.
So door will not latch closed, which is why I am guessing someone Heath Robinson'd the bungee strap.
On my way to the hide I passed Rachel and her assistant talking to another couple who had obviously been in the hide prior. Rachel and assistant came to hide about 20 minutes into my visit there. They were not aware of the lock situation and have no idea what has happened to it, Rachel stating that it was OK last week.
Any ideas anyone?
A few new names in the recording book too btw.
