I visited for half an hour on Tuesday, and lagoon was empty apart from two ducks on far side that i couldn't make out. Gulls and Lapwings still on pylon scrapes and a couple of wags dotting about.
Interesting write up in the Telegraph yesterday about the site. Full page including a good aerial shot.

Species number 76 in the form of a pair of Wigeon on Scrape A ,were a good find today. They were accompanied by 2 Curlew (seen on my way back from hide.).
There was absolutely nothing on the Lagoon!
Fairly impressive Starling murmuration near Grimsby Dock Tower.
Apart from Gulls, Lapwings and hundreds of Woodies, there was nothing much else today.

Hello Jon,
Yes, you are right, Gadwall is a new species for this year.
I popped into the site yesterday and there was a pair of Gadwall; big increase in Teal ( I counted 100. Sadly none with a vertical stripe!); Mallard had increased to 37; and 1 very dapper Shelduck has returned. So hopefully, things are starting to look up again.
By my reckoning there have been 75 species this year. ( I have not counted White Wag as a separate species)

Hi Joy,

Just wondered how many species were recorded at Cress Marsh during 2019? Is Gadwall new for the year?

Regards

Jon

Pleased to report that a new door handle is now in situ and hide door has been freed-up.
Water levels very high, of course.
All the time I was there (11/2 hrs) a bird scarer went off intermittently...... seemed to come from field behind the Wood.
Nevertheless quite a number of birds on Cressy this afternoon:
Lapwing c70
Field fare 1
Teal... at least 61..... many males calling and displaying.
Mallard c11
Gadwall1
Buzz 2
Magpies, woodies, Rook 2, crows, pheasant 2
Gulls....inc numerous GBBs
Golden Plover.... 2 large flocks flew in distance behind factories.

So not a great variety but more individuals than for a couple of months
