Hi Martin

Did you see any Peregrine activity during your visit? I work just across the way from Cress Marsh and noted 3 Peregrine engaged in an aerial altercation overhead our site at just before midday. I think it may have been a pair seeing off an intruder from their territory which is possibly centred around the Stallingborough Power Station.

Regards

Jon

Thanks for that update, Martin.

Rachel Graham, NELC’s ecology officer, today sent me a message thanking LBC members and other birders for their diligence in recording sightings in the logbook. This information is providing valuable data.

So far, the species count stands at 70.

Rachel has been hard pressed of late because her assistant, Gary Cooper, has moved to pastures new.

This week she has been interviewing for his replacement and has made an appointment.

Sian Niblo is set to join her on April 1.

I received the message below from Rachel Graham today. It seems sensible to post it here.

"Hello all.
I’ve been made aware of an issue with the bird hide door in that you can’t open it from the inside, but you can reach it through the flap and open it from the outside. If you could please pass this onto other birders that you know who go in there as I don’t have the contact details for everyone that’s in the record book and warn them. It may be a couple of days until I can have a look and get it sorted. I’m currently on annual leave but I’m trying to find a colleague who can go and look for me to see what the situation is.
I’ll keep you updated.
Thanks,
Rachel
