Yesterday watched what looked like a hornet seem one many years ago, it was taking sap the cherry tree nearest kitchen, then a red admiral came and both had a set to, the admiral won and was drinking the sap for ages, never seen that happen before.
Also three small white and a speckled wood.

Last night had a Speckled Wood on french door. Most days last week had three Large White which is pathetic!

Numbers increasing John, I see no Gatekeeper, maybe you don't get them. I sometimes get them but this year only seeing Speckled Wood most days.

My Coastguard  gardens  Theddlethorpe, butterflies count 24 07 24

peacock1, red ad 3, comma 1, speckled wood 1, large white 1, small white 2,
meadow brown 5, ringlet 2, hedge brown 4, 

barely 15 percent of last years numbers of peacock ,red ad , whites, and yet to see small tort,
or second brood holly blue, small copper.
