While sat in garden watched three Speckled Wood either getting amorous or sky dancing plus two Small White, two Large White and a Red Admiral come for it's regular drink of sap.

Íf the hornet was hungover it's back later afternoon with a pal, it always goes to same part of branch.

The Red Admiral and Hornet were drinking sap every day since last Tuesday bar yesterday's rain, the former is back today, expect the hornet has an hangover lol.

Yesterday evening had two Red Admiral feeding on the cherry tree sap along with a hornet and a dozen or so blue bottle sized flies, watched this for over an hour.  Expect they will return today.

Since 18:00 had three Red Admiral feeding on the cherry tree sap like the single one yesterday and almost next to the same branch.  Have never seen this activity before. Today the flies and couple of wasps been annoying the Red Admiral 's.

Looked up and this butterfly prefers sap to nectar.
