For me the number one enemy of ground nesting birds and others is DOGS the times have seen them especially down one place on my patch running wild while owner/s mosey along behind with no care in world what it's mutt is getting up to. One time a guy had a dozen doing as they pleased. Another time saw two labs chasing a roe deer!!

Whilst it is funny, it is a typical frivolous attitude that cat owners and dog walkers would take. It's true that Magpies, Sparrowhawks, and Peregrines take many birds, even road traffic and our plate glass windows kill many more. This means it's even more important to reduce the thousands of song birds killed by cats and nesting birds disturbed by dogs, if we possibly can. Rather than belittling Lord Blencathra's suggestions, it may be more helpful to at least try to control our animals with wildlife in mind instead of just giving them free rein to roam as they please.

For sheer frivolity, I thought the last contribution from John (AKA Max) took the biscuit.
Until I read this . . .
