To John (Max)

I am so sorry all my work is annoying you.

1) When you log in there is two parts to the gallery system, your name to put up the menu image and manager images to where you can "Manage images"

Please click the manage image and try that

2) Session time outs, this is a security issue set by the hosting company, uploads are always the biggest security issue facing websites.
I asked about making it longer and all they came back with was "tell them to type quicker"

My email is colin@lincsbirdclub.co.uk if you want to ask me a long question

The main thing i was trying to do in testing was see if I dare open this up to all and with your comments and the amount of work I will not be allowing to all.

To Chris

Glad you worked it out, thanks for uploading

To Nigel

The server keeps the original, the smaller size and the thumbnail images so huge files will cause problems with space at some time hence why i say "Please don't upload huge files"

I understand that this gallery does not do the same as the old one but I just cant find a secure one that does

Hi Max I was just about to give you step by step instructions as I initially had the same issue as you but then I saw your post to Nigel. My first upload appeared on the title page but when you clicked on it there was nothing there. It took a while but eventually I got there. Once I clicked on the Manage Images it was fairly straightforward. I think once you have uploaded a photo you will think it easy - certainly easier than the old forum

Thanks for a comprehensive explanation Nigel. Will print off your answer and over the weekend try again. There are obviously quite a few gremlins affecting this new website which I hope will be ironed out sometime soon. I had just written a reply to Colin stating chapter and verse then clicked on submit only to get logged off and lose my reply, which is very annoying and time wasted!
Time for tea.

Cheers
Max :)

I think, trying to read between the lines, that John may be trying to upload his images to the "title" page that you get if you click on your name in the first column of the upload interface. That can only save a single image as the gallery's title image - the sparrowhawk shown on John's gallery? To upload multiple images, click on the "manage images" option (next column across) and load them there. The "drag and drop" feature works well and although I roughly downsized most of my images before uploading, I can confirm that it will accept images of several megabytes and resize them automatically. Once you have all the files you want to post appearing listed in the status box you just hit "start upload" and off they go. You will then see them all appear further down your upload page as a list of thumbnail images. Here you can add descriptions (or edit the text later) for each image in turn (dead easy) and finally hit the green "publish" tick at the top of the thumbnail list. Just to be bloody minded I just test-uploaded a file of 11mb and it worked perfectly well. Not that I'm recommending doing that!
There seems to be no obvious way for viewers to interact with the gallery by asking questions, comments, etc? Also, if I take too long messing around with an upload session I get automatically signed out and kicked back to square one.
