The numbers have definitely dropped off significantly, John. I haven't seen one in the garden for a couple of days. As in previous "Siskin" years the birds have moved on apart from a small breeding population in Willingham Forest.

Hello Stuart & David,
Have you noticed a reduction in the amount of Siskins coming or are you still getting same amounts?
Due to illness last week my numbers have reduced as am not able to fill feeders every day, luckily I also have a large droll yankee niger feeder up which takes some emptying, they have been using this alongside the goldfinch and of course the sunflower hearts and black sunflower seeds. When I first put the latter out the Sissy weren't interested but over a week or so they came to accept them, food is food when free!
Be interesting to hear your take.
Regards
John

Just been notified that an adult male Siskin ringed in my Market Rasen garden on March 16th was re-trapped at Thetford, Norfolk on 30th March some 123 km south-east.

We had our first Siskin of year on the feeders yesterday. Nice surprise.
