My count of great crested grebes at Covenham Reservoir this afternoon reached 55.

There were also six little grebes.

My experience with scarcer grebes is limited so I'll await confirmation  from someone more knowledgeable on the bird that  was keeping to itself before I claim it as a bl-n.

There were also two common sandpipers, 100-plus swallows, c 100 coot, c 50 tufted duck, c 40 pied wagtail.
