I was doing video yesterday Jim so here's a screenshot taken from the video. Although you can't really tell which leg from the screenshot, I assure you he's standing on the right one. Having seen all the lengthy video now, I'll have to revise the 1sec I said the left leg was down and now say maybe 5 secs in 45 minutes I was there. The second screenshot does show the left leg down and I can't see any actual damage. The system won't accept video so I'll email you a short clip

That's interesting, Phil. Did you get a still pic of the bird?

Morning Jim. I've checked the extensive videos I took yesterday and it's definitely the left leg that the bird is having trouble with - which does tally with your photo.

Phil - was it the right or left leg that appeared to be injured?
The reason I ask is that, last winter, there was a bird with twine wrapped around one leg (see pic) . It was OK at the time, but it was a concern for the future.
Could it have been the same bird you saw earlier today?

Found the purple sand at high tide this morning opposite Scoops ice cream place on the north prom. Watched it for 45 mins feeding ok and flying down from the groyne, but a bit concerning that it was on 1 leg for all but 1 second of that time - even while feeding and in the water. The leg is there but could be injured
