I have had a reply from Pete Potts who is a leader of Operation Godwit -http://www.scoiliosaefnaofa.com/god%20history.html - with this birds history. This Icelandiic bird was netted in Hazelwood Marshes NR, Suffolk 23.09.11 and has been recorded many times since in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Last recorded on 25.03.2018 at Breydon Water, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. This is its first record from our county. I have inserted a link to the project above and I would be interested in hearing from anyone with further sightings. of this bird as It may still in our area.
Thanks
Roger
Thanks

Thanks Roger for that update and the photo. I always feel that tracking down the origins of a ringed bird is part of the fun of birding - Jim
Except if they’re re-traps of birds that had been ringed in the same place the previous day.

Thanks Jim
I have sent an email to www.projectgodwit.org.uk but the right leg rings do not fit their study birds. So I sent an email to their link with the International Wader Study Group for Blackwits -limosalimosa@waderstudygroup.org. I hope to get a reply with some interesting info from one of them. A rather poor digscope photo attached.
Best wishes
Roger

Roger - could the ringed bird be one of those being tracked by the RSPB as featured at
