To make life easier I am no longer going to submit records and will not be renewing my membership.
This will then stop any further need for discussion.

I think you do a great job Chris, I would not like to do it, sifting through all those different formats every day. Well done.

Regards Pete

Alan,

have read your posts and Chris's but not sure what to say (been off it last two days) so not got me brain in gear.

Personally I think the L.B.C. powers that be ask too much much of Chris or he is a taking on far more work than he should (I assume its voluntary)  and its about time he had some helper/s, most of the admin team who are mentioned in the different sections are rarely seen/heard on the forum bar Chris, Jim &  Russ. I realise they do background work which a large majority  of the 500+ members hear nothing about.

Alan, am not taking/changing sides but just expressing my opinion while unwell, as my American mate said many years ago "opinions are like a*******s every one has one".  Where would the regular contributors be on the forum if Chris decided to jack in and not do the sighting records would you do them or I or others maybe if asked but let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Kind regards
John :)

The date you mention was the 7th but I didn't see it until Saturday the !0th because usually I don't look at this section regularly and that is simply because if members post in this area their posts are published as soon as you press the submit button and are instantly there for all to see. As i have told you several times previously, I don't want to waste my time repeating records that are already on the Forum. I do occasionally put the more interesting records in to the Latest News Section as I did with your records from last week but certainly am not about to make a habit of doing this retrospectively, I spend far too much time trawling Twitter, Facebook, BirdGuides etc for records. The very nature of first two of those applications means that records are of a rolling nature and it isn't long before they can disappear.in to the ether.

As I have said in the past an excel spreadsheet is produced monthly for the County Recorder of all sightings in the Members Forum Section which is used in the writing of the Annual Report. So all records are used how ever mundane they may be.For my sins I also compile this and I can tell you as you are probably well aware; that very few people bother to look at this section.

You have also told me that you also record your sighting on BirdTrack so all these go to the County Recorder too. I don't see these at all

Facebook, Twitter BirdGuides and the LBC What's App Group are the main areas where I get my information from. Using them gives most people instant access to local and countrywide sightings and many photographs too. Nothing the Bird Club can do will better these organisations. They are free to join and easily used

The date I mentioned was the 7th when other records had been included. So your remark about if I cared to look was incorrect, perhaps you should have looked at the dates and you would have known.

If you cared to look you would have noted that nothing was put in to the Forum yesterday as I was otherwise engaged. I am in the process of updating it tonight (Saturday) at 20:10
