Back at the Boating lake this morning. Looking very healthy and happily hooting away.

I played golf at Gainsborough (Thonock Park) yesterday and there was a Black Swan by one of the lakes.  Apparently a pair were introduced some years ago in an effort to scare off the Greylag and Canada Geese - the female died and the male hasn't been at all successful judging by the number of geese!

Was looking well yesterday. The other birds didn't seem to be bothering it, and it was perfectly happy taking bread from the people around the lake.

It's to be hoped the Black Swan stays safe unlike other birds that have suffered from others be it wildlife and humans!

It's certainly done a lot to promote interest in birdlife.
The Grimsby Telegraph today devoted another spread to it - the third in less than a fortnight.
It was still present this morning as were a pair of shoveler, feeding non-stop. There seem to be a lot of shoveler about this spring.

I saw a black swan on the Humber yacht club lake/Tetney marsh last year. Could be the same one.
