Cracking flight shots, Nick, especially with that sky as the backdrop. Definitely one for your 2022 calendar!

Sandwich terns still around the Leisure centre this morning. Unfortunately the piste basher kept disturbing them and they eventually all moved further out to the sand bar.

That’s bird watching for you! Went to Far Ines on Tuesday to see a bittern; in 5 hours never saw one, but did get good views of a water rail. So there you go, swings and roundabouts!

Not a wader, nor a tern to be seen. All that energy-sapping, cramp-inducing trek over wet sand for . . . .

A single Brent goose was with c.100 curlew and 300+ oystercatchers at high tide (10.45am) on Cleethorpes outer beach today. Also sighted were numerous gulls (of three species), three sandwich terns (one on the sand), one ringed plover and the long-staying peregrine. On the saltmarsh, skylark, meadow pipit, linnet and starling (plus four pied wagtails) were conspicuous with a steady procession of hirundines (mostly swallows) overhead.
