Let's hope when you and your missus get home from the safari she has had such a fantastic experience seeing the wildlife etc she will be able to wear a hat saying "I now love wildlife and birds" , fingers crossed  :)

Just a thought - perhaps your non birding wife might be able to source an appropriate ID book at the library!

Although been on a Kenyan safari I have no tips other than suggest your non birding wife carries binoculars as well otherwise she will miss out on some great sights including the animals. If you go to Treetops I hope you have better luck than we did. I stopped up all night to watch the watering hole and saw one small unidentiied mammal ! The safari itself was fantastic, easy birding and animal watching and plenty of them.

I am going with my non-birding wife on a Safari to Kenya in March next year. Has anybody got a bird ID book I could borrow, covering the birds of the area? It would give me half a chance to ID many of the birds whilst there (we are going to the Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Samburu and Aberdare). Any other tips for a birder going on a normal 'tourist' safari gratefully received!

Thanks,  Gary
