Karma
"Karma" is a kind of rewards and punishments system that was originally developed in Kunena (The forum we use).
You click + when you like something, and - when you dislike something.
Status
Offline, online, away, busy, invisible to say what that person is at the time
Hope that helps

Hi John
The moderators on the forum are not admin staff.
our main role is to make sure sensitive info on rare breeding birds is not published.
We are also getting to know the new site and are still finding out what it can and cannot do.
Colin is probably the best person to answer your specific questions which I believe he will do when he feels better..
Hang on in there John.

Sorry you have also been ill.
With their being 7 admin staff to help you I thought they would have answered my query, that's why we have helpers isn't it, biggest part of them have been on the admin staff for years.
Good health for 2018.
Regards
John

Hi John
First thing is that the old site was having hack attacks from China of about 500 per day, it was only time before they got in. Really sorry if the new site is not the old one, I really did try to secure the old one but sorry it could not be done.
I have been ill since Christmas and simply cant concentrate on the website at the moment. Getting better day by day, so will look at all the points you raise.
As to Twitter, well i dont use it, sorry but I just do not get its point. Someone posts some news and it has to be retweeted for us to see it and considering that the retweet can take days Its often well out of date.

Thanks Andrew new you wouldn't let me down ![:) :)]()
I've been on Twitter and Facebook since April last year and find the latter more enjoyable, probably because i can use more characters
when writing.
Am just getting the hang of this new site. One more question - what is the maximum size of photo to use as an avatar?
I would like to think there are more than three members who are my friends, but friends to me keep in touch with one another and only three members do lol. I've got lots of birding pals who I haven't seen for a long time and hope to see some next year, fingers X-ed.
Kind regards
John aka Max

Hi John,
The old forum was run by phpBB and there was no longer a safe way to run it without the whole website being compromised...
We had to come up with a solution, the two option were either lose the forum all together or move to a new forum software.
I am sorry to say that I think that forums are actually a 'thing' of the past with most members now using either Twitter or Facebook.
I personally was slow to move to twitter, but now find I look at this far more than then any other social media...
Andrew
PPS: I think you have more than three friends on here....
