The bird hide at Elm house farm, access off the B 1200 has parking nearby and a wheelchair ramp
and moveable seating ( drive down track and park on grass next to hide)
grid reference TF458917 (only c 1 mile west of Seaview and nnr dunes)
most bird sightings  in winter and spring, mostly wildfowl, waders, and birds of prey
The whole 230 acres of grassland pools and ditches is now owned by Natural England and
having further pond scrapes created when funds are available possibly the coming early winter
i count regularly and have counted c 2000 pink feet geese with occasional a few  white fronted and bean geese
mixed in ,also  hundreds of duck  depending on weather marsh and hen harriers, peregrine, short eared owl
barn owl ,buzzard and red kite also seen mostly in same period,
A log book is there for birders to record and view sightings

Unless MSQ paths have changed since I was able to visit the hides ten plus years ago most of the path to Duck hide from old tool shed was a bit rough. And the path to Wader hide was virtually impossible. I once asked LWT if I could ride round on a fold-up cycle and was politely told no, I asked why and they said you may run into someone to which I replied I won't be cycling with my eyes closed.

For many years Blacktoft Sands had excellent paths for any form of disabled transport. No idea what sites cater for those with a disability these days as I stay in or next to car.

I have no complaints for my bird/wildlife watching as all the places I visit can be quite easily watched from my mobile hide or very close to it as my friends will confirm.

I ffind it strange when I have been im hides that have been adapted for disabled people such as making the seating removable for wheel chair access BUT the paths to the hides are not wheelchair friendly

Thanks John,

it's many years since I visited Rimac and always enjoyed my time there with my pals as well, I remember meeting you there once and you showing us a Ring Ouzel. My first Redstart was there shown to us by a guy from Yorkshire.

All I need now is to find a self catering cottage nearby preferably away from others, been looking for one along coast and inland, now can focus on one near Rimac if poss.

Again thanks for detailed info!

Regards

John
