John, what a lovely memento to cherish. I was never lucky enough to meet her but when she came to Scunny I think it was to open the Queensway gardens and maybe visit the steelworks in the 1950s. I went with mam to corner of Bushfield Road and Ashby Road as the car went past, I remember having a wee flag
when it was her Coronation my street celebrated in rooms above The Talbot Inn , I have a photo of it, I was only four.

That's a fine tribute, John.
The new King has a strong interest in wildlife so you also have that in common. I wonder if he might become the new Patron of the RSPB which has posted a tribute from chief executive Beccy Speight and former SPB Scotland director Stuart Housden on its website.
Apparently, she once encountered a nest of capercaillies while horseriding on the Balmoral estate and asked to be kept updated about the progress of the chicks.
The RSPB has today issued this statement in respect of its reserves including Blacktoft Sands and Frampton:
"As a mark of respect, the facilities on our reserves will be closed today (9 September) and on the day of Her Majesty’s funeral. However, all trails will remain open, should you wish to take a moment in nature to pause and reflect.
"The Queen was acutely aware of the need to restore natural habitats, for the benefit of wildlife, people and the planet, and, as we look ahead to a new era for the United Kingdom, I can assure you that all of us here at the RSPB will remain committed to creating a world richer in nature."

Am sure members will be saddened at the passing of our Queen yesterday and I only thought it right to mention it on here, if admin think it shouldn't be here they know what to do. Charles was born same year as me and our birthdays are fours months apart, that's where the similarities end.
Watched television all day after hearing her family had been summoned to her bedside. Have had a tear all evening.
Sending my condolences to the Royal family and am sure millions more will.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd R.I.P. xx
