Hi Joy, A Big Year sounds exciting! I can't retire any time soon but as a lecturer I do have long summer holidays, so trying to make the most of the next few weeks - my Big Summer! One day I'll have time to write a book - maybe....

well done Jane especially birding in your local area , migration on the coast is now underway so your species list should increase
considerably over the next few weeks.
regards John

Another light hearted book on year listing is ‘Arrivals and Rivals: a birding oddity’ by Adrian Riley. That is quite a fun read.

Hi Jane, Yes, keep up the birding and the posting. It’s good to have another female voice on the site.
I found work was getting in the way of birding and recently retired! I’m doing a Big Year and was vaguely thinking of writing a book. Perhaps we could collaborate! ( if you want a really inspiring , easy watch, funny, moving DVD, get The Big Year starring Steve Martin and Jack Black)
Hi Pete, Thanks for mentioning Feral by George Monbiot. Have been meaning to buy it for ages. Just started reading it.... looks very interesting .
