Blue Tits are considered a sedentary species and the the longest movement of a ringed bird in Britain is 771km.  I have just received notification that a juvenile Blue Tit ringed by me at Kirmond le Mire on 29/8/2023 was recaptured on December14th this year at Hut Wood near Chandlers Ford, Hampshire some 284 km. South south west of the ringing site.  This is believed to be the longest movement of the species ringed by the Mid Lincs Ringing Group since its' formation in 1976 when over 32,000 have been ringed!
