Nov 9th: Managed to put new straw in hoggy den while it was in it. Also wrapped the den in triple bubble wrap and then covered it with old timber, made a sloping entrance so its easier to get in/out then put some ply at an angle so rain doesn't go in entrance and I can put bowls/plates next to entrance without it getting wet. I put a wee bit of cooked gammon inside entrance, its only big enough for the hoggy to come and go and there is no way the sloping ply can be shifted as it is held in place by two bricks. Next day the gammon had gone and some of the biscuits.

Nov 11th:  Past few nights been putting Spike biscuits out for hoggy and seen it having them in front garden, as I was going to bed at 03;15 had a peep out curtain and WOW the Fox was there eating hoggy's biscuits. So that night put the trail camera out. Early saturday morning 03:30 the Fox was on camera along with the black cat. Early Sunday morning 04:00 hoggy was seen having a drink. I put some cat food in gravy out but daresay the cat had it.

The Fox is a new garden tick! It has made my year!

Kind regards
John

We put it in a small dish with hedgehog dried food on the ground near it. Off to Norfolk on Saturday for a weeks birding , weather looking quite good for it.

That's interesting, do you put it on ground or a plate? Think mine has tucked itself up for winter before i got chance to renew straw etc, not seen it since last report.

Our hog is loving pouches of cat food in gravy, prefers it to actual hedgehog food.

Oct 9th: Hoggy in back garden while i was filling feeders, almost tripped over it with it being in the longish grass next to magnolia, fetched it some spike biscuits, which it tucked into, then got it some cooked chicken, it really enjoyed that but was bothered by a big fly which kept landing on it's back. When it had finished the meat I kept an eye out to see if it went to either hoogy boxes or somewhere else. Ten mins later it made its way to the largest box but struggled to get in so I got a piece of polystyrene board for it to use as a step. I also covered the box in bubble wrap.

Just spent an hour reading up on Hoggies and what they like and don't like , never realised the amount of food they can eat in moderation and what they MUST NOT be given, already knew quite a few. I've made a long list of likes etc so am well armed with info I didn't have before!

All being well before it goes into hibernation will remove the old bedding and burn it and add new straw etc. It says not to face the box North or North East, mine is facing North but its shielded by a 6' fence panel and got the shade of all my trees and another fence other side of it, it also gets the sun late afternoon. More info to follow.

Sept 2nd: juve Hoggy seen 03:45 and 19:50 in front garden, gave it some Spike biscuits.
Oct 4th: juve Hoggy in back garden mid afternoon, when for some some Spike Biscuits and cat food in jelly, when I got back it had disappeared couldn't find anywhere unless it went in its box. When I get chance going to cover the box in bubble wrap and place fresh straw at entrance, he will get the best I can offer. Since my elderly cat passed away on Aug 20th I've been a bit lost.

Next door neighbour showed me footage of a Fox in her front garden caught on the security camera, it shows it making it's way to mine wow as yet not seen it but only a matter of time!
