Replied by John Walker on topic Pyramidal Orchids
Amongst the several thousands of Pyramidal orchids on ST nnr were 8 of the scarce alibiflora  form

Marsh helleborines have been found in a new area on the NNR but the usual site at Rimac has many fewer due to the
high water table into late May.

Also of note c 320 of the rare (on east coast) sub species of early marsh orchid ,  coccinea were noted
142 of these were in a colony of c 7000 marsh orchids on an adjacent field margin cared for by the land owner.

On the PRV at  Swinn Wood  c 30 common spotted orchids also included several of the white form

John Walker reports double the number of Pyramidals  on the Saltfleetby-Thedlethorpe Reserve. We have 7 on our back lawn for the first time ever. Where have they come from? How did they get there? It must be a good year.

Regards Pete
