I have now reduced the file size and sent it to the Royal Entomological Society

I've been waiting a long time for a spider reply from them Alan - covid reasons apparently. For a much quicker reply, you could send it to the Royal Entomological Society - the top man usually answers within 24 hours www.royensoc.co.uk/identifying-insects

Thanks for that, I have googled information about them and they seem to be more Southern based. I have sent a photo to the Natural History Museum as they offer a free identification service. Will let you know the outcome.

I agree with Phil - definitely a bush cricket and probably an oak.

Hi Alan,

I put the photo through my app and it says it is a male oak bush cricket.   It's not too reliable an app, so you might want to check it out further.

Regards

Phil
