Hi John,

That's a trend that's reflected in our garden in N. Somercotes. One fresh Red Admiral and an equally fresh Comma all this week. Also, still up to 4 Ivy Bees and loads of hover flies, wasps, ladybirds and blue bottles on the ivy flowers.

8 fresh red admirals on ivy , also seen 1 comma, 1 wall, 3 speckled wood all along c 250 m stretch of dunes and willow hedge 081022

3 fresh wall butterflies on and 2 fresh small coppers 120922 will be 3rd generations due to this year’s exceptional summer.

Commonest butterfly by far speckled wood , also seen painted lady ,red admiral, small heath, small white,
small copper, comma, common blue, brown argus,

That is a good haul John, not seen our Brown Argus anymore. We did have a new for the garden striking black and red wasp today  though, probably  Ammophila Sabulosa.
