Excellent murmuration of starlings at Whisby NP this evening (16.00-16.25) with a guestimate of around 18-20,000 bird but only around half these birds actually landed at the Grebe Lake roost site.. Added interest was provided by peregrine and sparrowhawk attacks as the birds started entering the reeds at Grebe Lake. Also, calling water rail and tawny owl whilst waiting and flyover lesser redpoll.
