Had a run out today and decided to cover every area that I knew might hold wild swans between Chapel Point and Tetney Lock. These are the results in order.

Withern Ings/Stain Lane Mute Swan 7 adults 7 juvs

Trusthorpe Sewage farm Mute Swan 2 adults 3 juveniles

Sutton Ings area 0

Huttoft Pit area Mute Swan 5 ad, 1 juv Whooper Swan 68 ad, 19 juv

South of Huttoft to Chapel 0

Gayton le Marsh Mute Swan 6 ad

Theddlethorpe 0

Elm House Farm Saltfleetby 0 swans c 500 Pink foot Geese and 200 Brent

Saltfleet Mute Swan 32 ad 8 juv

N Somercotes, Grainthorpe, Thoresby Bridge, Tetney, North Cotes, Fulstow, Covenham 0.

So only the 1 flock of 87 Whoopers at the traditional site and not as many Mute (71) as I would have expected.

Didn't do a full list at each site so these are not on birdtrack.

Happy new year to all birders in Lincs!
