On approaching the White Bridge When walking the dog I could see a flock of swans in the middle of the lake. I immediately said to myself "whoopers" and so it proved on reaching the bridge. 15 of them, 10 adults and 5 juveniles. They were definitely the first I have ever seen hera. Less than a hundred yards from these swans were two sleeping tawny owls. The birds I had been hoping to see when I left home. It was my fourth attempt too. Towards Doddington Road there were 3 goosander 2 males and a female. Perhaps there was more but it was too dark to look at their usual haunts
