Best birds this lunchtime at Port of Immingham open day were c.100 bar-tailed godwit plus fewer numbers of curlew and redshank. The main spectacle was of several hundred feral pigeons awaiting the arrival of the next vessel containing a grain cargo. The port seeks to control their numbers by means of trapping, bird scarers and the occasional services of a falconer, but with scant success. Apparently the pigeons have become so fearless that they will even perch next to the raptor (not sure of the species).
