Excellent views of a cuckoo being mobbed by a pair of reed buntings in the dunes to sea side of Mill Hill this afternoon and, a few minutes later, 4.45pm, Hoopoe flew across our path but we couldn't relocate in scrub by shore. Non- birder described bird she had been watching on ground that "wasn't a jay" from the actual watchpoint just before our sighting.
