There were still some Siskins in my garden last week so I put a net up and was astonished to catch 50 new Goldfinches and 13 Siskins in 3 hours on March 31st. I hope I get some of them caught elsewhere to find out about their movements

2026 is another year when large number of Siskins pass through the Market Rasen area in spring and visit traditional sites.  I have been ringing on three mornings since March 4th in one garden near the River Rase on Caistor Road.  I have caught 87 new Siskins to date and one which had previously been ringed in Cheshire in November last year some 116km due west.  I have not re-trapped any from the previous visits so they are not hanging about!
