Hi
i go by a national level for rare and scares birds but I also do have a list on the Lincolnshire area that I do follow as well.
if I myself do get a little confused I do have a look at the ICUN list of bird species which gives the colour coding red being rare to green being least concern.
i hope this helps.

Hi Jo and thanks for taking over to continue a very comprehensive sightings Section. I would like to know how the birds are classified into the red (rare) and blue (scarce) category?  Are these classifications on a local or national level?  What prompted my query that quite a few of the birds shown in red are very common in this (Market Rasen) area.  The one that really sticks out is the Corncrake at Boultham Mere which is shown in black!  There is probably a very simple answer!
