As the breeding season kicks in, just a reminder to think carefully before reporting rare breeding species here or on other social media. There is useful advice provided by the RBBP, including this blog  rbbp.org.uk/2021/04/16/guidance-on-rare-breeders-2021/  and also in this guidance  rbbp.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/R...e_Breeding_Birds.pdf    In accordance with this RBBP guidance, breeding by the following species in Lincs (actual or possible) should not be publicised - Black-necked Grebe, Goshawk, Long-eared Owl or Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. Also be mindful of potential breeders - Cattle Egret, Great White Egret, Osprey, Marsh Warbler. This is not an exhaustive list and there will be other breeding species which should not be reported due to their sensitive nature or the particular circumstances involved. If in doubt, don’t report on social media but inform Phil Hyde the County Recorder. Many thanks.
