A good walk along the river path today produced a good selection, and good numbers too.
Along the river itself, from the motorway bridge, to the second of the two bridges toward Ferriby produced 34 drake Goosanders and 22 females.
In the hedgerows, a nice tally of 17 Yellowhammers, 14 Redwing, 2 Siskin mixed in with some Goldfinches and a couple of Song thrush.
The farmland and fields on the right of the river were very flooded, and I was surprised how far inland the flooding went. This produced around 350 Lapwing, 100+ Curlew and 200 Golden Plover, with Little Egrets scattered around. Not bad for a couple of hours.
