Yesterday was same with next to no birds in back garden (PM as I didn't get up till 12.30pm) and have got 4 fat ball feeders, one nut feeder and six seed feeders. Whereas in front garden the spuggies were at least 36 , a robin, blackbird and three feral pigeon with one seed feeder, two large and one small nut feeders and one fat ball feeder. Only use sunflower hearts and sometimes black sunflower seeds, I buy both premium quality fat balls and slabs and standard fat balls due to having Magpies, Jackdaws and Crows visiting. Last week had Long-tailed Tits most days plus the Great/Blue/Coal Tits.
On a normal day usually get 100+ birds and on a good day 150+ birds and 17 species, but this past week the totals have been poor, not sure why.
No idea how much seed etc I get through but it's a lot, this winter must have had 3 x 10kg bags, 200 fat balls and six tubs of nuts that's a rough estimate! I also buy apples and pears for the Blackbirds every two weeks.

I can only dream of Siskins and Redpols on our sunflower hearts. Also the lone House Sparrow we had on on the first Feb. is still the only one!

Not sure what here in morning as I didn't get up till midday. Was snowing when I got up and continued till 3 pm , very few birds in back garden but plenty in front garden especially when I put some brioche and custard creams out, as many as twenty Spuggies and a blackbird.

That surprised me, Peter. Here in Market Rasen at 10.30a.m. in the rain there was a flock of 21 Goldfinches continually on the Sunflower hearts as well as 2 or 3 Siskins!

Not one single bird on the feeders today. The only uplifting moment was a Song Thrush singing before the rain early on.
