Garganey, or just an odd female Mallard?

Thanks Pete. I suspected as much, it was just because it stood out from the other females. I thought the bill was too Mallardy, it was the chin and eye stripe that had me second guessing.

Looks like Mallard to me Nick. I see what you mean with the eye stripe and light chin, but the bill and lack of white spot at the base of the bill points to Mallard. Joy's photo earlier in the month has the droopy grey bill and the white spot.

Walking down the River Freshney at the Holt area near Great Coates, I came across this duck with a small mixed Mallard flock. It stood out from all the other females because of it's prominent eye stripe and lack of blue green underwing. Is it possibly a Garganey... or a Garllard.. or maybe just a juvenile Mallard?
