The sun did not properly burn through the fog until about 10.00 but a short walk from Rippingale to Dowsby revealed that there had been a fall of migrants. Most were on the edge of a big hedge/ copse beside Dowsby Hall. At least 3 Spotted Flycatchers, a singing Willow Warbler, at least 3 Chiffchaffs; one singing and four Swallows hawking insects along the hedge. Several Yellowhammers and all the common finches except Bullfinch.. Also a juvenile Sparrowhawk and 2 Buzzards. Lots of Common Darter Dragonflies and Small White butterflies.
