Don't worry, Greta - for those with dyslexia it could have been Red-legged Partridge!  On a serious note it does show that a lot of birders make assumptions that their vernacular is apparent to all . Food for thought for the experienced contributor -  how are those new to the joys of birding are expected to know what a gropper is!!  Always remember that all of us started somewhere.
