Not surprising to hear of last years House Martins abandoning because of noise disturbance at the Forces Weekend, Jim. I wonder what the abandonment figure might be after the ‘Rave’ at the Showground on Saturday last.
Many warblers are still nesting in the Buck Beck area right now, plus other species no doubt in the surrounding area. I wonder how they survived the incessant ‘music’ which was literally thumped out at full bore for twelve hours. It’s the loudest I’ve known here. I live nearly two miles away and it could be heard over the TV.
Have events by all means, nothing against that as it is a resort, but be a bit considerate when it is within/next to a designated wildlife area during the breeding season.
NEL likes to inform visitors that the area is within a SSSI site plus other EU protections of international importance. So that’s ok then!

I can't say I'm too optimistic about prospects for this housemartin on Cleethorpe seafront determinedly continuing to incubate in what remains of her nest which has been part destroyed by who knows what or whom?
Even if the eggs hatch, a new threat looms   - next w/e's Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend will see noisy aircraft activity. When it happened last year, the parents deserted.
